has been in the Business Continuity field since 1999. She has
conducted BIA’s, facilitated exercises, developed Business
Continuity plans and lead various other projects related to a Business
Continuity program. She earned a B.S. from San Diego State
University and a MBA from Pepperdine University. She has been a
member of ACP since 2004 and served on the board as Program Director
for the Capital of Texas Chapter in 2007.
A large part of her volunteer experience has been with Amnesty International where she founded and organized conferences and events. She has been involved with Amnesty since 1991. Program Director Sherry Adams-Walker Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts 512-463-9255 Sherry
is the Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Coordinator for the Texas
Department of Public Safety. She also is involved with the Austin
CERT program, serves as the Administrative Coordinator for Women of
Every Color Coming Together Loving and Supporting Each other since
2004. She is the Assistant Missionary President, Youth Sunday
School Teacher, and Christian Youth Fellowship Director at Joshua
Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church as well.

Tompkins is Information Security Officer at Teacher Retirement System
of Texas. He has more than 24 years of technical, managerial and
consulting experience in information technology and more than 16 in
information security and business continuity. He is a Certified
Information Systems Security Professional and a Certified Business
Continuity Professional. He joined Association of Contingency Planner
in 1996; member of Capital of Texas Chapter up to present. In 2002,
elected to the Chapter Board of Directors- continuously on this Board
of Directors to present. Completed Risk Management Certificate
Program (Managing Safety Risk in the Workplace, Property Risk
Management and Managing Organizational Risks) at the University of
Texas at Austin Division of Continuing Education. Conference
Chair/Co-Chair for eight business continuity/ information security
conferences from 1996 to present.
Information Director & Webmaster Harris Newman CBCP, CISSP City of Austin 512-974-2456 Harris
has worked in both managerial and technical positions of Business
Resumption/Disaster planning, Information Security as well as directing
IT organizations. Harris has over 27 years experience in IT, have
a BBA from UT and a MBA from St. Edwards University. He regularly
gives blood and has achived 18 gallons in donations.
Publicity Director Stephen Eager Longbow Consulting, Inc. 512-299-8654 Stephen
is the founder and president of Longbow Consulting, Inc, an Austin
based management consulting firm providing services in the areas of
business continuity, project management and IT audit. Stephen
received his B.S. in Management Information Systems (MIS) and maintains
certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified
Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Business Continuity Professional
(ABCP). He has over 13 years experience managing large
scale, mission critical ERP development/integration projects, Business
Continuity/Disaster Recovery operations, Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404
audits, and process design/reengineering initiatives in matrix &
functional style organizations.
Mr. Eager also serves as a special consultant to Ernst & Young (E&Y), LLP and is responsible for providing project management training to their East Coast management team. Since 2006 Stephen has written a variety of white papers on topics such as “Business Continuity Best Practices for Small organizations”, “Sarbanes-Oxley Sustainability”, “Getting the most from your compliance dollars”, “Recovering Failed Projects” and “Project Management Best Practices”. Actively involved in a number of professional organizations outside of ACP, Stephen is a member of ISACA, PMI, The PMI Troubled Projects Interest Group, and the Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN). He was a volunteer for ConSec 2006 and is serving again in 2008. Through Longbow Consulting, Stephen actively supports the arts in Austin through financial contributions and volunteer work for the Austin Wind Symphony. Past President Ruth Hooks Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company 512-463-1813 Ruth
is the Director of Information Technology at the Texas Treasury
Safekeeping Trust Co. She is an Information Technology (IT)
professional with experience in Texas state government and the private
sector. Her skills and experience encompass a broad range of IT
disciplines including contracting, business continuity planning, system
development, and overall IT operations administration.
Ruth has served one year as Secretary and two years as Treasurer for the Capital of Texas Chapter of the Association of Contingency Planners. Strategic Alliance Melody Nunn CBCP The 401K Company 512-344-3933 Melody
has been deeply involved in Business Continuity for the last 17
years. Instrumental in the development of EDS’ Continuity
offering, led dozens of domestic and international Risk Analysis and
Business Impact Analysis and plan development efforts. ACP board
member and American Red Cross volunteer for 5 years.
